At Speakeasy we offer a special course for students who start language study from 6 years of age. At 6, 7 years old, they start having two weekly classes and the material used is from Editora Cambridge, chosen to prepare our students to reach the sixth year of elementary school (11 years old) already at level A1 (according to CEFRL).

The brain develops incredibly fast in the first years of life, learning anything at this stage becomes much easier, that's why learning languages in childhood is so enjoyable and brings quick results. Classes are dynamic, stimulating the child's natural curiosity, which is now discovering the world.

Games, games and creative activities are always included.

For us, learning is only effective when the child creates meaning and understands that activity as something fun, pleasurable and important. All this happens as part of the constructive process of knowledge.

We highlight the role of affectivity in obtaining positive results in the process of teaching and learning a foreign language for children. This theme has been the object of studies by several researchers, who define affectivity as a determining factor for learning a language.

Online resources are a big differentiator. The adoption of the material allows students to participate in an online platform in which the teacher can monitor their progress and those responsible have the possibility to follow the entire course.

With the Guess What! students are able to develop the 4 skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) in a balanced and progressive way, respecting the age groups.

THE ADVANTAGES OF LEARNING A SECOND LANGUAGE IN CHILDHOOD

1. SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENT

Early language study also stimulates cognitive functions. This is very positive for the use of other school subjects!

The more our brain exercises, gets activity, the faster it develops.

2. FASTEST LEARNING

In early childhood, children are real “sponges”, absorbing all kinds of content that is presented to them.

3. FLUENCY IN ADULT LIFE

If a person starts learning English from an early age, it is much more likely that by the time they reach adulthood they will be fluent. Thus, it will be much easier for your child to conquer opportunities that require English, as opposed to someone who only decides to learn after they are grown up and due to the demand of the job market.

4. SHYNESS REDUCTION

The contact with a new language, in a classroom with people his own age, helps to reduce the shyness that often prevents the little ones from communicating with other people and not making friends.

5. MULTIPLE POINTS OF VIEW

To learn a language, it is necessary to understand a little of the culture of that people, which allows the child to develop different points of view, which makes them more receptive to diversity.

6. A GLOBALIZED ADULT

It is normal for children who start to speak English in the first years of school to feel excited about the discoveries and to be interested in practicing what they learn with their peers and at home.

Have you ever thought how cool it is for your child to have the chance to travel the world with perfect communication and experience different cultures?

Children's English is valuable as it is a universal language, which is practiced in most countries.

Someone who has this second language on the tip of their tongue has more independence to travel.

As we value the importance of good learning, we cannot ignore the importance of initial and continuing teacher education, passing through the careful preparation of didactic and evaluative activities.
